How to be a CASSA Research Intern?
Students and professionals may apply to become unpaid CASSA Research Interns by following the steps outlined below.
- Review the Research Areas page to identify a CASSA Core or Associate Member with whom you wish to conduct research.
- Reach out to the selected Member using the contact information provided on the Core and Associate Members page.
- Once a CASSA member agrees to supervise you, contact the Science Manager ([email protected]) to schedule an in-person interview with the CASSA Director. During this interview, you can outline your research plans and demonstrate your capacity to execute them.
- Following a successful interview and confirmation from your supervisor, you will be placed in the Internship Onboarding Pipeline (refer to the list below for current pipeline members).
- After two months of regular participation in the onboarding pipeline, you will present your preliminary work at CASSA. Based on an evaluation of this presentation, you will either be officially appointed as a Research Intern or retained in the pipeline for further assessment.
- Upon confirmation of your position, you will receive a Research Internship appointment ranging from a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 6 months.
- Research Interns are required to work on-site at the CASSA office for at least one full day per week (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday).
- At the conclusion of the internship, you must submit an Internship Report and deliver a presentation on your findings. A certificate will be issued upon the successful submission and presentation of this report.
- While not mandatory, Research Interns are strongly encouraged to publish at least one Research Note in the Research Notes of the AAS by the end of their term.
- Although priority is given to undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate students, exceptionally motivated high school/college students (HSC, A-Levels, Alim) are also eligible to apply.
