What is CASSA

Astronomy, astrophysics & space science — pursued from Bangladesh

The Center for Astronomy, Space Science and Astrophysics (CASSA) is an autonomous, multidisciplinary research center of Independent University, Bangladesh, working directly under the Office of the Vice Chancellor. Founded in 2025, it grew out of the Astronomy Research Group, IUB (2020) and the Computational and Observational Astronomy Lab (2023).

Its work runs on three missions — research, teaching, and outreach — with the vision to be a pathfinder in Bangladesh, impactful in South Asia, and part of the international community in these fields.
