CASSA comprises the following positions as per the CASSA Constitution, approved by the Academic Council, the Syndicate, and the Board of Trustees of IUB by 14 August 2025, with the final Vice-Chancellor’s order issued on the same date. Here A&A stands for astronomy and astrophysics, and SPaSE for space and planetary science and engineering.
- Core Member (CM): PhD faculty members of IUB who are either specialists in A&A and SPaSE or collaborate with CASSA substantially in these research fields.
- Associate Member (AM): Our active collaborators who are conducting research after completing a PhD in a field relevant to CASSA.
- Graduate Associate Member (GAM): Includes PhD students or candidates who are pursuing a PhD in a field relevant to CASSA.
- Faculty Research Associate (FRA): Faculty members of IUB (typically non-PhD) who are not Core or Associate Members of CASSA but conduct research within the center.
- Technical Research Associate (TRA): Technical staff of IUB who conduct research within the center.
- Manager (Science): Oversees all administrative activities and procedures related to CASSA, both within IUB and in dealings with external entities.
- Student Research Assistants (SRA):
- Graduate Research Assistant (GRA): MSc students or students who finished MSc but did not begin PhD.
- Postbac Research Assistant (PRA): Students who finished BSc but did not begin MSc.
- Undergraduate Research Assistant (URA): Current undergraduate students.
- Research Interns (RI):
- Graduate Research Intern (GRI): same as GRA but unpaid.
- Postbac Research Intern (PRI): same as PRA but unpaid.
- Undergraduate Research Intern (URI): same as URA but unpaid.
- Outreach Ambassador: IUB Student on Duty responsible for leading outreach activities.
- High School Intern (HSI): high school (and also college in Bangladesh) students.
