Merit Internship in Data-intensive Astronomy

MerIDiAn is an internship offered by CASSA. The interns work closely with Khan Asad and the research assistants (RA) of CASSA. It is meant for advanced undergraduates and recently graduated students of engineering, computer science, physical and life sciences, mathematics and statistics. The position is always open; please contact Khan Asad and you will be hired based on your merit and the availability of timeslots. More details are given below.

  1. We are always hiring, but the work is carried out only during a IUB trimester as per the Academic Calendar.
  2. For applying, send a well-written 1-page SOP and your CV to [email protected]. SOP instructions are given below.
  3. Online, offline and hybrid, all work-styles are possible, please mention your preference in the SOP.
  4. You can work only on one of the available projects. A list of currently available projects are given in this page.
  5. Duration is negotiable, from one to six months.
  6. This is an unpaid position, but there is a possibility that you can be a co-author in a publication.
  7. A certificate will be given based on a final report and presentation.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Fluency in Unix shell, Python and Jupyter Lab.
  2. Ability to work at IUB if you choose offline or hybrid style.
  3. Your own computer (preferably, laptop with Ubuntu).
  4. Either advanced undergraduate or recent graduate in physics, mathematics, engineering or computer science.
