Unistellar

Unistellar is a French optics company making digitally-enhanced portable telescopes. Their Odyssey range includes the Odyssey and Odyssey Pro, offering accessible stargazing with enhanced-vision technology, while the Expert range—comprising the eVscope 2 and eQuinox—targets serious amateur astronomers and citizen scientists contributing to professional research programs in exoplanet detection and asteroid characterization.

1. Start by preparing the tripod, which features a two-stage extension system. Open the simple clasps on each leg and pull them out until the tripod reaches its full height, then lock the clasps back into place to ensure a tall and stable base for the telescope.

2. Attach the telescope head mount to the tripod by lowering it directly into the circular cutout at the top of the tripod base. Ensure that the mount is seated completely flush within the cutout so it is stable and properly aligned for the next step of the assembly.

3. Secure the telescope to the tripod by locating the two thumb screws on the side of the tripod head. Tighten these screws by hand until they are finger-tight, which is sufficient to ensure the mount remains securely attached without the risk of falling or shifting during use.

4. Power on the motorized system by pressing the power button located on the side of the telescope’s mounting arm. Wait a few moments for the internal computer to initialize before attempting to connect your mobile device to the unit’s wireless network.

5. Establish a connection between your smartphone or tablet and the telescope by navigating to your device’s Wi-Fi settings. Look for the network named Equinox 2 and select it to connect, then open the official Unistellar app which is available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

6. Use the Unistellar app to explore the celestial catalog and select a planetary or deep-sky object you wish to observe. Once a target is selected, the telescope will automatically move into position, allowing you to view and capture images of the night sky directly through the app interface.

7. When you are finished with your observation session, navigate to the telescope settings in the app and select the option to park the device. This command automatically returns the telescope to its home position, after which you can safely turn off the power and begin disassembling the equipment.
