-====== Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite ======
-GOES Program is a collaborative project between NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the US of A.
-
-In 2023, the GOES system comprised of two satellites: GOES-13, functioning as GOES-East, positioned at 75 degrees west longitude, and GOES-15, operating as GOES-West, located at 135 degrees west longitude. With the introduction of the GOES-R series, the system will maintain the two-satellite configuration but with different positions: 75 degrees west longitude and 137 degrees west longitude. This shift is aimed at avoiding conflicts with other satellite systems. The operational lifetime of the GOES-R series extends until December 2036.
-
-These satellites play a crucial role in enabling meteorologists to observe and forecast various local weather phenomena, such as thunderstorms, tornadoes, fog, hurricanes, flash floods, and other severe weather conditions. Moreover, GOES satellites have proven valuable in monitoring events like dust storms, volcanic eruptions, and forest fires.
-
-The benefits of the satellites include:
-  - Supporting the Search and Rescue Satellite Aided System ([[SARSAT]]).
-  - Contributing to the development of global environmental warning services and the enhancement of basic environmental services.
-  - Enhancing the capability to forecast and provide real-time warnings of solar disturbances.
-  - Providing data that can be utilized to expand our knowledge and understanding of the atmosphere and its processes.
-
-The upcoming series of GOES satellites will consist of GOES-R, S, T, and U.
