-====== Astronomy ====== +
-Astronomy is the science that deals with everything in the universe outside the Earth. Before [[Galileo]] and [[Newton]], astronomy was all about measuring the angular positions of celestial objects thereby predicting and postdicting the location and time of interesting celestial events. To a lesser extent, ancient astronomers also tried to devise grand theories of the whole universe giving birth to the field of [[cosmology]]. Since the invention of the [[telescope]], things have completely changed, astronomy has turned into a 'physical' science from a purely 'mathematical' science. The objects modern astronomers study physically include [[planet]]s and planetary systems, [[star]]s and interstellar media, [[galaxy|galaxies]] and intergalactic media, galaxy clusters, the cosmic web, and the universe as a whole. Since the twentieth century astronomers can also study the Earth from space using spacecrafts and probes.+
