Students have to perform field work following PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) on 5 topics.
During the morning session between 9 am and 1 pm, students will conduct field work in the village ‘paras’ assigned to them. The field work includes resource mapping, transect walk, getting familiar with the villagers, listening to their stories, and filling up a questionnaire based on their answers.
In the evening session, between 6 and 8 pm, students will have to give presentations on each of the 5 aforementioned topics. Four parts of the survey correspond to the first four topics. The second topic has an added questionnaire in google form and the final topic (rural market) questionnaire has to be improvised.
Note that although the questionnaire survey does not have any preset schedule, the presentations do have a schedule. You can ask the villagers questions from any part of the questionnaire on a given day, but make sure that you have enough material on a particular topic before the scheduled presentation of that topic.

Introduction and Conclusion must be written by the five students of the group together. The 5 chapters in between will be written by the five members individually.
Your field work in the villages will follow the method of Participatory Rural Appraisal. Please go to the link given in the previous sentence for finding the details of the method.
Each group will prepare a poster on a single large chart paper every day. They have to present the poster in front of all students, monitors and faculties and answer questions if asked.
Five minutes will be given for presentation and 2 minutes for questions and answers.
In total there will be 5 daily presentations on the 5 topics of the final report.
Students can draw maps, tables, histograms, pie charts, bar charts and/or line charts on the chart paper using markers and pencils.
Students should use their daily journal as notes for the daily presentation. So please finish writing the journal before the presentation.
Every student has to keep a daily journal. They will write what they have done, learned and concluded in a given day. The journal must be finished before the daily presentation at 6 pm. Faculties will check the journal of a randomly selected student from each group during their daily presentation.
In the final presentation, students will combine the knowledge of the previous 5 presentations to give an overview of what their objectives were and what have been the outcomes.
The objectives will be described in the introduction of the report later.
The outcomes will be described in the conclusion of the report later.
The IUB code of conduct will be applicable for the 12 days. Any violation will be put forward to and investigated by the proctorial body and the Gender and Sexual Harassment Body of IUB. On top of the usual code of conduct, the following rules are to be followed especially for LFE. The rules are divided into three categories based on the severity of the punishment.
The following acts and/or behavior will result in an F grade and expulsion from the LFE venue.
